My book, Of Their Own Accord, is finally in print! It details the heroics of our Ranger unit and the valiant units that supported the Rangers in Nam. See http://oftheirownaccord.com. I have a favor to request. My publisher wants me to coordinate purchases through Amazon to potentially catapult my book to be a "Best Seller," if only for an hour or a day, so that the publisher can advertise that status through its national sales force. Conseequently, I request you support this Ranger Request to submit your purchase through Amazon (the lowest price)on May 27th, preferably between the hours of 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Eastern Standard Time). Of course, I would also appreciate you mentioning this request to anyone else you know who might enjoy obtaining a copy of my book. I will proudly send an autographed bookplate to affix to the inside cover to anyone who requests it. In sharp contract to the complimentary treatment and respect accorded to our current combatants in Iraq by Americans, the Vietnam Veterans were treated harshly and with disrespect. The Vietnam War divided our nation on a scale not witnessed since the Civil War. Unfortunately, an ungrateful America, fed by the myths perpetrated by the media and entertainment industries, castigated or ignored the Vietnam Veteran. Of Their Own Accord unabashedly relates the heroics routinely performed by the elite “Charlie Rangers” of the 75th Infantry. Set in 1970 in the deadly jungles of the Central Highlands of South Vietnam, the novel is riveting, hard-hitting and evocative of a full range of emotions – from abject fear to unqualified heroism, from tender love and devotion to unbridled loyalty, from comedic anecdotes to personal tragedies. The story is ultimately a revelation of the bravery of the special Brotherhood of Warrior Rangers. Of Their Own Accord is a novel that will finally help a discerning nation understand how to condemn an unpopular war while still championing a worthy warrior. Of Their Own Accord will enable the disenfranchised Vietnam Veterans reclaim the honor and dignity they nobly earned through sacrifices on the battlefields over 35 years ago and on the home front ever since. It is a compelling and cathartic read. To view pictures of the people, places and events that inspired my writing, please visit http://oftheirownaccord.com/index1.htm Gary "28" Dolan, Esq Co C (Ranger), 75th Inf (Airborne) USMA '69

I salute you, Eric, for the spirit in your site. You walked the Nam the same time I did, 66-April 67, when I almost gave my life for the country we love. I invite those who pass here to visit my "Vietnam Picture Tour, http://pzzzz.tripod.com/namtour.html from the lens and poet’s pen of a combat infantryman, from one who's walked the walk, and can talk the talk...Take a walk in "the park" with the 1st Air Cavalry on combat patrol, that in reality will give you the sweet and sour taste of "the Nam" on your tongue, leave the pungent smell of "the Nam" acrid in your nostrils, and embed textures of "the Nam" in your brain as though you walked beside me in combat.

I have two albums of images of Delta 1/7 and also the 7th Marine Regiment, which came from the National Archives. The Regimental images were taken by Marine Combat Photographers in Vietnam. Both albums continue to grow. I was with 3rd Platoon, Delta 1/7 from November 1968 until June of 1969.

Hey, Eric! Just checking in and letting you know that I enjoy your website on India. One minor correction on Larry Callahan's story about the explosion on Hill 65. I took Doc Peterson's place when he rotated back to Bn. I was with Doc Wilkinson at the time of the explosion. Bobby Cash replaced me when I was medivaced just before Operation Desoto. Wasn't with the company long, but I do remember your jungle rot! I was in Wilkinson's hooch with Cpl Burns the radio operator.

Hello Eric! My name is Rachel, I am 16 years old, and in 11th grade. In my English class, we are reading a book called 'Fallen Angels', which deals with the Vietnam War. As with every book we read, there comes a research paper to be written. I chose Vietnam Veterans as my topic for my research paper, and I wanted to let you know that I would like to use some of your artwork as an example of an expository critique. I enjoyed your art and I feel it portrays greater meaning to you than it does to an audience. I was hoping you would be able to tell me a little about your art and maybe explain the meaning behind them, or how you may feel about this artwork you have made. I would like to know the power of these works, their appeal to audiences both friendly and hostile, and the extent to which they anticipate and address viewer concerns. Thank you so much for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Very nice web site Brother! While serving in Vietnam as an 0311 " Rifleman" with the 2nd Bn/1st Mar/Div in 1968 I took an AK-47 round in my left leg during a search and destoy on 881 south. Within the next several minutes I was wounded again by an incoming mortar round and took scrap metal in both legs, chest and arms causing my right lung to collapse. Everywhere I looked there was blood. My right hand was half way torn off and just hanging loosely. I promised God that I would spend the rest of my life giving life back instead of taking it if He would allow me to live. I was 17 years old at the time and I am now 53. I have tried every since to keep my promise by serving and giving to others as Jesus said we are to do. God Be with you Brother and Thank You.

Let your spirit soar, and reach down like Angel Dust falling on the people of need, of a lift, or love. Our spirits can bridge the distance from each other and lift one another up. When you are able to be open with your feelings, we all begin to understand each other and, through that, understand love can have a chance to grow. You know we are all on this earth for such a short time... It is wonderful to be able to be in touch with someone's heart and feelings. It really brings us together and our spirits join together as one. I think history will tell as we learn more about our new ways to meet and communicate with each other. It is a social change, and also a different way of thinking about relations with each other. It is the future in the present time.
